Shows that BYU can be successful without a clear cut #1. I know it comes up a lot, and even Mitch Harper on the radio was constantly saying you have to have that. It's not true. Sure it's not ideal, but it's not true that you can't be successful. Ironically, both 06 and 09 had big offenses and McKay Jacobson was your "top" guy. Freshman and soph year he's your top WR, and not only that, there was hardly anything behind him.

When you have Jacobson as your top guy and he's not even catching 30 passes, and guys like Chambers, Zac Collie, Allen, younger Reed are your other receivers, and you can still light it up, you can't tell me BYU can't be successful without a star WR.

In 2009, there were only two WRs in the top 8 receiving. That's crazy. And of the two, the top guy didn't even have 30 catches, and the other guy was Luke Ashworth (no offense Luke). You seriously have to get creative to have those as virtually your only two WRs and you still pass for 3700 yds and 34 TDs.

Bring back the creativity. I think they can do that this year now that things are more set where it matters. If you're set in the trenches and at QB, and you're not looking dreadful at RB, you can make something happen.

Another thing. People will come in and say "yeah, but BYU isn't going to get all pass happy with this staff. They'll still run the ball." Well obviously. But what I don't think a lot of those people realize is that even in BYU's big passing years, they weren't pass happy. They were very balanced. Usually around 50/50. It just makes your passing game look a whole lot better when your yards per goes way up. They weren't passing way more than they were running. But they were dink and dunk down the field.

What Grimes said. We need to up the explosive plays. You just have to have that. It's the difference maker.
