Bradford just went down and we had all the momentum - we all knew it...we were going to win. Hall refused to lose. I absolutely loved him. I was working in the AD when he was the starter and he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way mostly because people thought “he was so full of himself”...and he was. But I’ve never been bothered by people like that because those are the people who do great things.
Max was one of the biggest punks in BYU history. Jim was the same way. Zach doesn’t really have that punk edge but he does in a really unique way. Hard to explain. He’s like...a Disney punk.
It was absolutely one of my favorite moments in BYU history. Another favorite, before max took any snaps, before he had even won the starting job, I remember on a media day people were asking him questions and he answered like 5 or 6 of them with
“I’m not John Beck.”
Max was the best. Kinda difficult to mentor but felt like he was teaching me more times than not on how to win like a punk.
