I'd actually prefer to play Houston and Memphis than Baylor and Minnesota

Especially if those are meaningful conference games. I'd also much rather play Tulsa and SMU in November, as conference games, than UMass and Liberty as exhibition games.

But, I would suggest that BYU make the move to the AAC with Boise State and SDSU. That way, we can continue a budding rivalry, as a late-season conference matchup nonetheless, and continue to play frequent games in southern California.

With a western expansion of the AAC, BYU could actually keep some pretty nice future schedules. For instance, in 2021 keep Arizona, Utah, Virginia and USC (and Boise State ann South Florida) and replace the following:

  • Houston for Baylor
  • Memphis for Washington State
  • San Diego State for Arizona State
  • SMU for Utah State
  • Temple for Georgia Southern
  • Tulsa for Idaho State

Not bad.

In 2022, keep Utah, Arkansas, Stanford, (and Boise State and East Carolina) and perhaps add Utah State or keep Wyoming; replace:

  • Houston for Baylor
  • San Diego State for Oregon (road payday game)
  • Memphis for Wyoming (or Utah State)
  • SMU for Liberty
  • Tulsa for Dixie State

And, I would absolutely leverage this move for men's basketball and seek to bring along Gonzaga with Boise State and SDSU. We should also push for the great bball schedule to include Gonzaga, Boise and SDSU as annual home-away opponents and more Memphis, Houston, SMU, Tulsa, and Wichita State and less ECU, USF, UCF, and Tulane.
