The top of the two is a flex space you can adjust the temp on.

We’d use it as a deli drawer for yogurts, cheeses & meats to free up space in main compartment. It’s nice to get in the deli drawer w/o having to open both large Dutch doors. We have a big freezer in garage so smaller space there isn’t an issue.
