The 3 ingredient burger: 80/20 ground beef (chuck), Salt, American cheese

I have a hard time believing that "overworking" the beef will have any noticeable impact on the outcome.

Unfortunately, this is science. Mixing activates the proteins, and the beef gets more sticky the more you mix it.

Except American cheese is disgusting. Use cheddar, and chopped bacon on top.

American cheese is fine on a burger. It simply melts better than cheddar

American cheese for an American burger. Also, cast iron is better, but flat top is better than a grill.

I have a cast iron pan that has a lid with it. Cook on a stove top.

I fully disagree. A grill is greater then a flat top
