I mean - I don't know what kind of control these hitters have, but if I'm trying to get the most hits off and can't get the next pitch until the ball I just hit hits the ground, I want to hit it just enough to get over the fence and drop quick - and not much more than that. Seems like a disincentive for guys to take big shots with a lot of power - which I think everyone would prefer to see.
