and last summer was the first time he's ever been to Boston to watch them. Another brother and I went with him, great trip loved every bit of it, but that was his first time even though he's been a Red Sox fan since he was a kid. Basically when he was probably 11-12 years old, I was 20 years old, he watched the Red Sox/Mets WS with me and there was a guy that played for the Red Sox, Marty Barrett, who we knew. He was from Las Vegas and our uncle had played baseball with him and was his buddy and so we'd known him our entire lives and because of that we were rooting for the Red Sox to win it. Well because of that WS my brother decided he was a Red Sox fan and has been ever since, and he's a legit fan, loves them and watches almost all of their games.
He and one of my other brothers who is a Dodger's fan like myself went down to the WS last year at Dodger stadium. People can be fans of teams for a lot of reasons even if they live on the other side of the country from the city that team is in.
