We had to drink it for about a decade when I was growing up. Nasty stuff.
The worst was right after it was mixed. It would be sort of lukewarm with un-dissolved flakes and bubbles on top.
I never could drink that crap straight (would only use it on cereal).
My parents used to buy boxes of in bulk from some big warehouse store. One time, they had someone fumigate the basement of our house where the boxes were stored but forgot to take them out during the fumigation. Afterward, they debated about whether to throw them out but ultimately decided that they couldn't afford to replace them. So, for the next several months, we had bug spray flavored powdered milk.
During that era, we referred to non-powdered milk as "real milk" and assumed that anyone who could afford that was rich.
Sometime, in the mid to late 1980's, powdered milk became more expensive than "real milk" so my parents switched. That was a good day in my life.
