Someone thought it wasn't fair to compare Kalani's first three years to Bronco's last three years. I really didn't want this to be a Bronco vs Kalani thing - more of a how BYU has done lately against decent G5 teams. I should probably find a way to refer to the recent past as something besides the Kalani era but it is an easy delineation point and description.
Crowton was 7-9 over his first three seasons (8-12 total) both of which are better than Kalani's 4-7. To be fair, Crowton started 4-0 and finished 4-2 in 2001 so his last three seasons ('02-04) are likely the worst 3 year stretch in the last 45 years (4-10 vs Kalani's 4-7).
Bronco was 11-3 in his first 3 seasons.
