No. Don't take it back at all. They bought it. It's not defective. They opened it.
It's only their personal taste. That's the risk you take as a buyer of food products. Sure, Costco will play the good guy and take it back. It is still wrong and dishonest IMO.
Plus it's not very much money. Eat the cost, give it to somebody else. There's no way this can be worth it.
