Maybe we just don't know everything
A guy in my old ward got a DUI and he was the straightest arrow on earth. I guess he drove to the store after taking his Dr. prescribed meds and had forgotten...he was fine getting there, but on the way back they started hitting him. He got pulled over, arrested and the whole sha-bang.
I am not trying to make excuses for anyone but stuff happens sometimes and sometimes having all the information is necessary before drawing any conclusions.
