I first picked up on it several years ago. I went to FBS schedules and looked at past schedules. By clicking on each team we played you can easily discover their final record.
As an example, people point to 2016 and say it was a good year that could have been better.
Of those 9 wins, 3 or 4 were against teams with winning records. That is NOT impressive.
Go back and look at the last 15 years. I’m sure you could do it in 15 - 20 mins. It’s not pretty.
Look, a win is a win. But to listen to “fans” habitually over-state how good the team is cringeworthy. The win against Wisconsin was fun. Measured at the end of the year, not as great.
MSU, we were all ecstatic. They finished 3-9. That should be an expected win, not celebrated.
So it goes with most P-5 wins...
