With a DUI there are mandatory minimum sentences which the judge has to impose.
With an impaired driving, the judge usually has some discretion on what the punishment is. Often, the penalties are very similar or the same.
On an impaired driving, a license suspension is not mandatory. On a first DUI, it is 120 days.
