So... I think it was kind of a CYA issue. It happened in Centerville, and when I took out the power line, I knocked out
the power of several neighborhoods in Centerville, as well as most of West Bountiful, and Woods Cross. It took 6 hours for the power to be restored. (My younger bro was friends with a 3 or 4 waitresses at restaurants in the Bountiful area who all claimed that business was insane that night- since nobody in those cities could cook dinner that night.)
I don't have the best recollection of everything, but I remember sitting in the back of the ambulance, and the cop asking me dozens of questions, like:
You're SURE you haven't consumed alcohol?
Have you taken any narcotic drugs?
Have you taken any benzodiazepines?
Do you take anything for anxiety or depression?
I was just as confused as the cop was- I'd never blacked out before. The cop asked me if I'd ever had any neurological problems. I told him that I'd had encephalitis when I was 2. (I had to get an MRI- to ensure that I didn't have any new issues- to keep my insurance.)
The officer asked questions forever. He wanted me to let the ambulance take me to the hospital, to get checked out, but I'd gotten married a couple months earlier, and knew my wife and I couldn't afford it- so I refused.
He told me that due to the accident, and the damage, he felt like I must have been impaired. They took my blood, and would check it for alcohol, drugs, etc- and if they found anything- I'd be charged with additional charges. But that if not, I could probably get a plea in abeyance- and just pay a fine- and have the charges dismissed.
