At least not the ones who want to make good money or do research.
I mean, sure, BYU-Idaho allows (forces) professors to focus full time on undergraduate education. But many people who get a PhD do not want to teach a bunch of sections of Stat 121 to freshmen. They got a PhD because they want to do research.
As someone who would consider teaching at BYU, I would never look into BYU-Idaho very seriously. Everything about BYU-Idaho seems to be focused on handcuffing faculty into a specific educational niche of undergraduate instruction.
I have a good friend who is a statistics professor at BYU. I was very proud of her when she got a job at BYU. It's a great job that will allow her to do research, teach undergrads (yes), but *also teach some classes beyond "this is the 2-sample t-test."BYU-Idaho does not offer that. I would find teaching at BYU-Idaho to be mind numbingly boring after about 5 years. And then you are stuck with zero research experience and zero graduate mentoring experience. Good luck getting a tenured faculty position anywhere besides a junior college.
