We are not a G5 school. If we were, why would all of the P5 conferences count BYU as an OOC P5 opponent? Nor are we P5. I agree with that. We are independent. We are independent with all of the good and bad that go along with it. Here is an an article that does a pretty good job showing the good and not so good with BYU’s current status:

Once again, there’s no way these P5’s would be scheduling BYU this much if they weren’t filling an OOC P5 requirement. Not a chance. This is one of the main advantages of independence.
