And - when you're speaking of the very conservative legislature - I often wonder if some of the silly laws they pass are actually things that, on the whole, church leadership really doesn't care all that much about. But the LDS legislators THINK that they want something a certain way. So it's not really a church thing, is a church member interpretation thing.

Even then - it's hard to not call that "the influence of the LDS church on the community". The church has influence even when it doesn't want to have influence.
