field position of returned kicks is short of the 25, so unless I have a dynamic return man with the potential to break it every time, I'm telling my return guys it's either TB or FC, with both outcomes setting me up at the 25.


But if I'm kicking off and I know the other team just plans to fair catch anything short of the end zone, I've got nothing to lose by kicking it short. Make them make a catch. If they muff it, my guys have a chance to make a play.
