Nishikori was a freak phenom. Raonic with maybe the biggest serve ever and a great all around game. Dimitrov. Berdych. Soderling. Gulbis. All of them with big time pedigrees coming up that could not break through.

I agree the current crop seems to have a much shorter shelf life — except the Russians. Khachanov, Rublev, and Medvedev will be top 10 and maybe top 5 with a slam at the end of next year.
