I'll edit to go with 8man. If you're smelling fuel you probably don't have a filter or pump issue.

Probably a spark issue that is keeping your fuel from being used properly. check coils is a great place to start.

Fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel line leak, spark or timing...in close to the order you should probably check

The smell is from dumping raw fuel in the exhaust by driving a misfiring engine

Right. Which tells me the fuel delivery system is likely ok and ignition is where to start looking.
