a catalytic converter if you burned it up while continuing to drive with the CEL flashing. When the CEL is flashing, stop right away; it is telling you there is a misfire and you are dumping raw fuel into the catalytic converter.

Fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel line leak, spark or timing...in close to the order you should probably check

I'll edit to go with 8man. If you're smelling fuel you probably don't have a filter or pump issue.

What code did the CEL throw? That will help you narrow it down to a couple of
