That did hurt BYU's position. But it starts at the top
until the admin decides the program is worthy of more resources it will continue to tread water. College football is big really HUGE business. Look at what is going on at Alabama with Saban being upset that fans left a blowout game early. It's incredible really. It drives decisions at all programs.
Seems like the admin doesn't want BYU to be involved to that degree.
