Granted, it's better than the alternative (death), but man it just seems ridiculous.
The most ridiculous part — someone explain this to me — he had a CT scan at the Instacare clinic first, before they sent us on to the hospital. They submitted a bill (code 71477 on the EOB) to the insurance company for $264. Not terrible, I suppose. Then I look at the EOB from the hospital, in which it shows they did another CT scan with the exact code (71477), billing the insurance $4,119.04 ... ?!?!? Not sure why they couldn't have just forwarded the Instacare scan in the first place, but I'm even more aghast at the massive $3800+ upcharge for the hospital version of the same scan?
Anyone?
