Angry about the entire situation. It was absurd. Was ty doing great things? No, but neither was anyone else on the coaching staff in 2017. Kalani gave up on the team almost every game. Tuiaki's defense was garbage. Yes the offense was historically bad (just like the team was, worst in 60 years) but the offense had injuries galore. We were on our 5-6th string RB's played through 4 QB's. None of these recruits were theirs.
Mangum was supposed to be a star and people thought detmer mismanaged him. The truth is, mangum fizzled as evidenced by his being replaced by a true freshman in his senior year, last year. Honestly, I think mangum was a headcase and that was the source of his problems. He wasn't focused on football. Hew didn't have much competition until wilson arrived. So what was detmer to do?
We hired one of our biggest legacy guys to be an OC, with no prior OC experience at this level. We gave him only two years to figure it out and provided absolutely zero support for him when he was struggling. We set him up to fail and fired him for doing what he was set up to do. It was a tragedy.
