coordinator that gave detailed responses to what went wrong in each game with their unit was ty. tuiaki was always "missed a few assignments" or other vague platitudes. Detmer would break down plays and point out who missed what and why. He could tell you exactly where each play went wrong.

Now, that doesn't mean detmer could fix it, maybe he's a lousy coach but has a great understanding of the game and each play. Personally I think 60-70% of the problem in 2017 was the lazy team culture. In that way, grimes was a fix. Ty's a lot like sitake in the fact that he's easy going and laid back. There was no discipline on that team. Grimes is much more of a disciplinarian.
