Why would scholarships even matter if you have rich boosters willing to pay
potential players to make appearances, advertise, or buy your merchandise?
"Look, we don't have a scholarship for you, but Mr. Smith is willing to pay you $200k."
I can just imagine the big-time schools stacking their team 6 or 7 deep at every position leaving only 1 and 2 star athletes for everyone else.
