Right, but the point is if you are a top-500 recruit but Texas doesn't have a
scholarship for you, but a Texas booster will pay you 200K per year to play for Texas then you're financially better off taking that money without a scholarship than taking a scholarship to Texas Tech and 50K of TT booster money. It's basically just free agency where a scholarship is just a part of a potential compensation package.
