Typically going from beginner to intermediate means you need to add volume
I do 4 sets of whatever rep scheme I’m doing on flat bench (and that is 8s or 10s more often than most other guys) and then 3-4 sets of 8-12 on 2-3 other movements. One of which is always cable crossovers with emphasis on squeezing in the middle.
