Independence doesn't lead to poor coaching, poor execution, etc. Winning isn't about the conference - not when the teams you're losing to are the teams BYU just lost to.
Moving from independence to a conference is like rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. Sure - you get to feel like you're doing something. But it's completely inconsequential and does nothing to fix the issues.
