He is not paid by the government.
The team is run by a separate non profit.
I don’t know all of the specific mechanics.
He may take some form of govt salary and then the remaining 90%+ paid by the non profit but he isn’t collecting CSRS off of 2 M+ annual pay from USNA (that we don’t actually know and is kept secret because he isn’t paid by govt)
