BYU is #64 in Defensive SP+. USC is #56. Every other team Utah has played is
#90 or worse. They do have 3 solid defensive teams coming up in Arizona St., Cal, and Washington, however, so Huntley will have more than a fair shot to prove himself. But as of now, he has only gone up against 2 "average" defenses and put up an "average" performance against them. To his credit, though, he has played spectacularly against the bad defenses on his schedule. I also expect him to put up big numbers in his last 3 games (UCLA, Arizona, Colorado) as they are all poor defensive teams as well.

What's interesting to me is that out of the 12 teams on Utah's schedule, 7 of them rate #90 or below in defensive SP+. Those are some pretty bad defenses for P5 teams (Washington St., Oregon St., UCLA, Arizona, and Colorado). No wonder nobody takes the PAC-12 seriously on a national scale. Half the teams in the conference don't play any defense.
