It's not that ridiculous of a claim
Boise State was his only legit offer (other than Idaho). BYU had just come off an 11-2 season. John Beck was graduating. If BYU had offered back then, Kellen would have listened. Boise State was still proving themselves, so it wouldn't have been a clear cut choice.
