“My head coach told them that I was at their camp last year, but I guess they didn’t remember me or something like that. So I’m a little down on BYU right now, but I don’t know. We’ll see what happens and stuff like that...You know, I’m not going to lie. BYU interested me a lot at first, but the lack of attention and just talking to other schools and being close to them has kind of changed that.”

BYU told Taysom to come to summer camp before his junior season. He did exactly that and then he heard from his coach that Anae had no idea who he is i.e. he made zero impression on the coaching staff. He literally heard nothing from BYU. Taysom then explored his other options and had 6 offers in hand by the time BYU got back around to him. In the mean time, BYU had already offered Nunes and Forcier and probably Jamie Jensen.

The LDS Coach Anderson at Stanford made a solid pitch to Taysom while he was on radio silence with BYU. Stanford was really down back then, but that became a great alternative when BYU wasn't showing any interest
