I need to amend this slightly...
I was just listening to the post-game interview of BSU's coach. He said the refs were "buzzed" - meaning the replay booth called for the review, not Boise State. So, Boise State never challenged that call - the booth caused the review to happen.
All of you complaining that BSU used a timeout they didn't have to challenge the call can now definitively stop because they did rightly get the timeout back but more importantly, they weren't the ones challenging the placement of the ball.

I hated that about the timeout and challenge. I was screaming at the TV saying you need a TO to challenge.
