I thought I had a bad valve once
I started down the path of changing the washer on the valve, but later found out (once I failed and had to get a plumber in there) that the head was really the problem. If it is a really old head, it can sometime just be blocked up and somehow that creates a drip too. Take the head off and run it and see what happens before you try and mess with the valve.
