Essentially what you're saying is that if they play well to begin with, it's because they were well coached in high school. And over time, as Roderick spends more time coaching them and they are further and further removed from their high school coaching/coach they get worse and worse.

So - for a guy like Hall - you're saying that he went on a mission and then RS'd at BYU - so coaching he got in high school back in 2015 is why he is doing well. And the more coaching he gets from Roderick now, the worse he's going to get as a player. A full 4 years AFTER he left high school.

And for a guy like Romney - it's actually been a year longer - 2014 that he graduated from high school. So the reason he's played well has to do with coaching he got 5 years ago - and coaching he's gotten the last two years hasn't overcome that great high school coaching as yet.

Don't get me wrong - I understand what you're saying about the history at Utah, and some uncertainty with Mangum and his trajectory. But I think it's a pretty big stretch to believe that these two players are playing well because of coaching that happened 4-5 years ago and in spite of coaching that's happened the last 1-2 years.
