Did you expect him to look it over for free?
And did you even try the alternate fuel first or just figure the propane was good so no reason to try the gas side? Propane is finicky, the regulators and hoses are typically the issue with any propane situation.
With that said, I would pay him and go pick it up from him and try a new valve, hose, and tank and if that doesn’t work return it to Costco under warranty
