tipping is 100% determined by custom, and customs are arbitrary. In this case,
custom dictates that we tip people who provide personal services (nails, hair, massage), and especially (or maybe only) when we are repeat customers.
So, the mechanic doesn't provide a personal service, and neither does the IT guy. And I think you could make an argument that if you just went for one massage, ever, you wouldn't tip, but if you went in for a monthly massage, you would.
