I caught an Apache as a Boy Scout. 3 day horseback trip into the mountains. Creek was tiny and our horse guide guy was
sure there were no trout in it.
But I was the only one who brought a fly rod and I was convinced otherwise.
Hiked the creek after we made camp and found someone had put some rocks in to dam up a small pool. Apparently someone else knew what that creek had.
Caught a handful of little Apaches.
This was early/mid 90’s. Couldn’t find them anywhere remotely accessible then.
