I think the point is that discussion can take place as part of negotiating...
...the games to be scheduled. I'm assuming they can talk to the broadcast partner of the school and see what can be worked out before any scheduling deal is finalized.

I get what you're saying that whatever contract the other school has BYU will have to abide by. But they can talk to the broadcast partner before signing a deal with the school too.

Of course, this is all theoretical. It's possible they tried that route and it didn't work out. I'm just saying I hope they thought to talk to the school about their broadcast partner and options to make sure it is as available as possible - and that the school would support BYU to whatever degree they can to make it work.
