It that scenario, the next available MWC team is what? Air Force, Wyoming, Utah State or SDSU? BYU would sell more tickets and get a better TV ratings than any of those schools. So, ESPN could horse-trade to ensure that Hawaii stays home at the Hawaii Bowl against a solid AAC opponent (Tulane? Temple?) and BYU slides into the Las Vegas Bowl against a PAC 12 team like Washington State.

THAT would be just about the optimal scenario that BYU could hope for this season. Other possible options include ESPN to move BYU to the Cheez-It Bowl in Tempe, Arizona or Armed Forces Bowl in Ft. Worth, Texas against a Big 12 opponent, like Iowa State.

BYU would need to finish on a 6-game winning streak and beat SDSU though....
