You are highlighting what "could have been" which is not "what is". A continuous focus on "what could have been" is a pathological way of living life.
On the other hand, those who have accepted "what is" are actually viewing the world from a place of reality. We didn't beat USF or Toledo. We aren't ranked in the top 20. Why concern myself with a world that doesn't exist? That is not reality.
The much healthier way of living life is interacting with the real word as it happens, and adapting. That is what it means to view life from reality.
