I'd rather see an 11-1 team that lost to the #1 team in the nation by 5, than

an 8-5 conference champion that lost to unranked teams or than a team that scored a nice-and-shiny win-loss record because of an easy non-conference schedule and an easy conference. Not all conference championships are equal and they should not be used to lock out quality teams.
