Many Ute fans don't even know how to respect a rival because they have spent so much energy hating BYU.

The religious aspect colors a lot (if not all) of the rivalry. 

Utah fans are 2 camps: Mormons who resent the implication that they should/must root for BYU and Non-Mormons who have a clash of values and think BYU fans are delusional.

I don't know how it will change over time, but it really turns some Ute fans into jerks like the Heber Area Dentist who took his "hate" out on an ASU player.

Utah fans make think you're weird, but that is no reason to hate.  I mean who doesn't like Bill Walton?
