Yes, players develop reputations and the refs talk about it...
...And adjust their calls. Unfortunately it doesn’t happen immediately and so some guys get away with it for a short while. We’ve seen floppers Get away with it for a while in the WCC. Remember how badly Waldow used to flop when Brandon Davies would give him a bump or two with his shoulder in the post before making a move? he got away with it at first but then refs wised up.
They’ll wise up to Jones’ flopping but likely not until part way through their conference season.
