Your second paragraph is key. The reduced football schollies need to be
reinvested in other men’s sports, which helps those sports — many of which are underrepresented today, such a strong men’s soccer or volleyball.

Per Title IX, the only other alternative would be to cut scholarships in women’s sports too. I agree we don’t want to do either of those things.
