The Park City resort and the Canyons (village at park city) are all run by the same company (Vail Resorts). They have a 50 year deal to manage the resorts... so don't expect anything 'NEW' resort wise in the Park City boundary.
Most of the commercial business has moved out to Kimbal Junction and the Silver Creek area.
Your $$$ property is going to be in Old Town and Deer Valley (lower and Deer Crest).
If I was to buy a house in 'Park City' I would want one in Trailside, Pinebrook or Jeremy Ranch (aka.. the suburbs of park city).
Park Medows is nice, Aerie has some interesting neighborhoods. Quinns Junction is new-ish.. but IMHO not as scenic as some of the others.
IMHO.. if i was moving my family to the area i would look at Heber, Midway or Daniels. I love Park City but the cost of ownership is crazy-expensive. It has a very large seasonal/vagrant population. Most of the people that work there (stores, restaurants, shops.. etc) can't afford to live there. It has a very 'elitist' vibe (even in the normal neighborhoods).
If I could afford a $2mil+ house it would be in Glenwild.
