The biggest reason that the service academies run the option is because their constraints make it so that they can't get large linemen, but they can get undersized linemen with fantastic fitness and endurance. They also have a much better chance at getting spped than they do size. BYU is virtually the opposite of that. Our natural recruiting pool is full of size but not necessarily speed. So, it's not necessarily just a case of fans or admin thinking the option is boring, it's also a case of it being pretty much the opposite of what BYU's constraints are suited for. I like Ken, a lot, but his offensive philosphy would be a very poor fit for us.
