Rankings don't matter for seeding. My projections are right in line of where
everyone else has them right now (they're being projected anywhere from 5 to 11 right now w/ average projection of 7.6). They have a NET ranking (the one used most heavily by the selection committee) of 50. They are 0-1 vs Q1 (29 point loss to Purdue) and also have a Q3 loss to South Carolina. They are 3-0 against Q3 which is really the only reason to put them as high as they are. Those Q3 wins are against Virginia Tech, Arizona St, and Syracuse. When looking at their resume and what they've actually accomplished, and 8 seed is very justifiable for them as of this point in time. They still have 6 Q1 and 6 Q2 games remaining so plenty of opportunities to move up throughout the rest of the year. However, this projection is based upon what they have accomplished so far which isn't a whole lot.
