The "iso-ball back in the good old days" comment is weird - are those his words or yours? Because one of the two of you really doesn't know about basketball.

I would further add that all the cutting and passing and screening that you find so mesmerizing in the modern NBA was indeed happening every bit as much in the NBA in the 80's and 90's - and in fact, long before that. When people talk about the "good old days" of basketball, THAT is actually what they are talking about. Cutting and passing and screening. Despite what the teenage fanboys on CB will tell you, that stuff was not invented recently.

The Jazz do play some good ball. And I still watch when I have the chance. Still lots of dunking, which is awesome. Waaay too much heaving 3-pointers for my taste - after a certain point that becomes less entertaining to watch - but that's my opinion.

Just to be clear: my comment simply said the NBA has changed "not for the better" - I never said the modern NBA is horrible, or ruined, or unwatchable, or anything like that. I am not a cranky old man (yet), but I am a man who has watched a lot of basketball over the past 4 decades, and my opinion on the topic is certainly just as educated as any of blockheads on this board.

P.S. Strong work re-converting your BIL to the NBA - sounds like he really needed that. Still plenty to like about the current NBA.
